10th Annual Tomato Tasting

The 10th Annual OVF Tomato Tasting is in the books, and here are the results.

With a plump red Sugary, Nancy and Glen Howell took home first place and a $50 gift card to Marina del Rey Garden Center. Congratulations Nancy!

Dean Cleverdon & Nancy Nyberg were a close second with their Sun Gold cherries, and Garden Master, Ed Mosman came in third with his Tappy beefsteaks. They all went home with $25 gift certificates from Merrihew's Sunset Gardens.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible. Srting with our prize sponsors Marina del Rey Garden Center and Merrihew's Sunset Gardens; event coordinators Amanda Goodpaster, Dean Cleverdon, Nancy Nyberg and Ona Rynearson; all the volunteers that helped set-up, slice tomatoes and put on this year's event and everyone who turned out to enjoy the tomatoes!

Interestingly, this is the first year on record that cherries received as many votes as beefsteaks, including both first and second place prizes!
