A lack of April showers doesn’t mean we don’t get to enjoy May flowers at OVF. What a beautiful spring it's been!

Useful info:

  • Here are some general tips for gardening in May.  Never fear!  If you didn’t make the most of the gorgeous April weather, there is still time to plant a bountiful summer garden.
  • Remember to deep water your plot to encourage the plants’ root systems to grow deep into ground where the soil will stay wetter longer.  A topping of mulch will help keep the water from evaporating away quickly in hot or windy weather.
  • The Seed Starting Workshop on May 7th is currently full but you can sign up for the waiting list through the contact list on the bottom of the event page.

OVF Announcements:

No Overhead Watering

Just a reminder not to overhead water your plots.  Not only does this method of watering waste water but it can also spread tomato blight and other diseases around the garden.

Help Wanted

We’re looking to fill a few volunteer positions.  If you are a structural engineer and able to volunteer your time please contact Frank Harris. We are also looking for docents for garden tours (we’re talking to you Master Gardeners!).  Please contact Andy Morris if you are interested.

Get Those Service Hours In!

Just a friendly reminder that all gardeners will need to have half of their community service hours completed by the end of June.

As always: we want to hear from you!  Send us an email, reach out on Facebook, or tag us on Instagram @oceanviewfarms.

That’s all for now.  Happy gardening!
